This craft was originally conceived as a large-scale transportation shuttle to be used in the construction of a space station for human habitation. The construction project was suspended after the first test shuttle was finished due to intensified combat. Also, the construction of the tactical space station “Zeus” was completed utilizing primarily the 600 series shuttles and as a result, the larger scale 800 series production plans were not nearly as advanced. As a result, only the first test shuttle currently exists.
As the Phantom/Gaia environmental research craft based on the outdated 500 series shuttle was retired, the military obtained the first test shuttle, renovated it by adding a scan radar system among other items and placed it into operation as a reconnaissance craft.
Its internal engine and fuel tank enable
it to travel in and out of the atmosphere without any supporting external
engines or fuel tanks. It is also capable of vertical lift-off and
landing.
Notes: I'd have to say that the Boa is my second favorite ship. There's just something to be said for scouting craft made for long spans of living within them. Like camping!
