The Action Figure Conspiracy

Okay.  Let's start on a light note, shall we?

We all know that the companies contracted by Square Pictures (and Squaresoft in general) to make their action figures are none other than Bandai and Palisades.  We also know that, when came time for those respective companies to cough up the figures to The Spirits Within, Palisades left Neil off their production line, and Bandai, in a similar feat of oddness, left out Jane.

Well, if you didn't, you do now.

There could be a simple explanation for this.  Each line was set up for seven different figures a piece (Palisades was cut to six with the exclusion of the Phantom), so maybe there's some statute on how many figures the companies can produce set in the contract, and each went with the characters they thought the most.  Although, logic in mind, they probably should have left out Sid on account of he's old.  And not very action-y.

Although, I would never have forgave them for that, either.

Now, the paranoid conclusion would be this:  Jane and Neil are, allegedly, supposed to be the foil relationship of the film.  Or, alternatively, tragic, unenlightened, abusive... whatever.  It's possible that - however unlikely and for some reason - this was supposed to be some kind of tribute to the star-crossed aspect of that.

I never said probable, mind you...

Although I do consider it rather irritating that they were so left out, regardless of cause.  May as well make it fun.
