Aki

The Healer

Who She is....

 Aki is the protagonist of our little adventure.  An accomplished scientist, she searches for a more peaceable solution to the Phantom invasion.

 Sometime before the story starts, Aki was accidentally infected by a Phantom during an experiment.  She was saved by Dr. Sid's quick action, and now carries the partial spirit wave with her to keep the infection from spreading deeper and killing her.  Because of this, she has all but withdrawn from the living world.

 Aki believes that the strange side effect to her infection, a reoccurring dream, is the key to Earth's salvation.  She records the dream, but keeps that record hidden for fear of... skepticism (Or not quite, but I lack a better term right now)

 Supposedly, and according to a man on the documentary, Aki is somehow associated with Sakaguchi's mother.  I think it was that Aki is named after her, but it was unclear to me if this was the case.

 Some of Aki's skills may run the same path as Neil's (the Aeronautical training stuff; they seem likely to have shared that).

 I like Aki, and I respect her.  There's something to be said about that going alone and unarmed into the ruins of New York thing.

 Despite her troubles, including the love, and loss, and love to loss again, Aki remains determined, and full of life.  Her belief holds strong, even when she is uncertain.  Perhaps she realizes that life is for living, and that death part of the cycle, even when it hurts.

I think she's rather admirable.
